Hi there, I’m Lizzie…

the owner of emberstone counseling. I became a therapist because I believe that people are fundamentally capable of change.
The work of therapy is a lot like exploring a new trail. First we locate where you are and the tools that you carry. Then, we collaborate on where you want to go, what additional tools are needed, and how we forge a new trail together.

After graduating with an undergrad in marketing, I’d never imagined I’d become a therapist. For a long time, I thought I was “too messed up” to do this work. Then I started working through my own challenging experiences, discovered what healing could look and feel like. Before becoming a therapist, I kept finding the same thing: the work I loved most was walking alongside people through their hardest moments. Even through COVID, layoffs, and financial uncertainty, that passion stayed with me during my time in grad school.

I don’t believe therapy is about becoming a perfectly “fixed” version of yourself. “I’m doing okay” is boring. I want to help you understand yourself more deeply, build a life that feels authentically yours, and feel less alone along the way. You don’t have to show up polished or have it all figured out. You can show up exactly as you are— your whole, authentic self is welcome here.

How I work

Therapy with me is warm, casual, and collaborative—with room for laughter, honesty, and getting it wrong. I value authenticity, safety, and trust, and I want you to feel comfortable showing up as yourself. When it comes to therapy, one size does not fit all, Instead, I work to be a helpful reflection when you feel stuck. Your autonomy matters, and your feedback helps shape where we go next.

Outside the therapy room

Outside the therapy room, you’ll usually find me outdoors, hiking, catching live music, checking out local breweries, or spending time with friends and family. I love Austin for its diversity, creativity, and the fact that there’s always something happening. When I’m not out exploring, I’m probably making something—knitting, painting, glass fusing, or woodworking.

I’ve found that making space for things that facilitate my joy and deep connection allows me to experience life fully.

My training & credentials

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas with a diverse clinical background spanning detox, inpatient care, outpatient therapy, and community mental health. This range of experience has given me a broad perspective on what people need at different points in their healing journey—from navigating crisis to creating lasting change.

I'm also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based approach that can help people process trauma and difficult life experiences.
